“Tabee Nieuw Guinea”
I was asked to portrait a group of elderly people for the series “Tabee Nieuw Guinea”. A photo series that brings forth the faces and stories of individuals intimately connected with the Dutch occupation of New Guinea. Through close-up portraits, each image serves as a window into the emotions and histories etched on the faces of those who lived through this complex chapter. These soulful portraits transcend time, offering a silent dialogue between the viewer and the resilient individuals who bear witness to a significant period in our shared history.
